Reading Levels:

Teachers may give out a student’s reading level, which can be found listed in two ways on each book.

  • A label on the back of the book which states the reading level number.
i.e.: “Reading Level 1.2” would indicate a first-grade reading level.

  • A dot with a specific color indicating which grade level as listed below:
Kinder – Blue Dots
First – Green Dots
Second – Orange Dots
Third – Yellow Dots
Fourth – Purple Dots
Fifth – Pink Dots
Sixth – Neon Orange Dots

Lost a Book?
Those who have incurred fines for lost or damaged books and who would like to settle them may reach out to the librarian at any time. Understandably, paying fines can be difficult and in order to eliminate barriers to a student’s access to reading, we have decided to implement new ways students can “pay” their fines in different ways. This program is designed to teach students the value of being responsible for the books they check out yet still give them access to the library, as it is a vital resource for their education and love of reading!

Alternate ways to “pay” off the fines:
-Shelving books
-Assisting in library cleanup
-Assist in book repairs or labeling
-Donate a book of equal value + quality (must be pre-approved)
-Assist in setting up displays
